Alexander MacLeod, originaire du Cap-Breton, a publié des textes dans The New Yorker, Granta, The Guardian et The Globe and Mail. Son premier recueil de nouvelles, Light Lifting (Biblioasis, 2011), a été finaliste au prix Giller et au Commonwealth Book Prize. Animal Person, paru chez McClelland & Stewart en 2022, a été élu Book of the Year par The New Yorker, The Irish Times, The Globe and Mail et CBC Books.
