Simon Dumas

Il / Lui / He / Him

Interdisciplinary Artist
Productions Rhizome

Simon Dumas is an interdisciplinary artist with roots in literature. He is the author of six books, including Révélations (2016), published by Éditions de l'Hexagone, and Géométries du Mauve Motel (2022), a correspondence with Nicole Brossard about their collaboration on a stage adaptation of her novel Le désert mauve (1987). For the past twenty years, he has also been producing and directing interdisciplinary shows, notably for Rhizome, of which he is co-founder, general and artistic director. Invariably, these projects are based on literary texts and involve authors in collective creative processes. Conversely, artists from other disciplines rub shoulders with writers. These are the processes of reading and encounters he seeks to set in motion: literary reading, interdisciplinary reading and "translation" from one artistic language to another. Simon Dumas lives in Quebec City. He was born in 1976.
