Serge Patrice Thibodeau is one of Acadia's leading contemporary writers. The author of poetry, travelogues and essays has received numerous awards, including the Prix Émile-Nelligan (1992) and the Governor General's Literary Award (1996 and 2007). After living in Montreal for twenty years and travelling to several countries worldwide, he returned to New Brunswick in 2005 to manage Moncton-based Éditions Perce-Neige. In 2014, he was named Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République française, in recognition of his twenty-five years of activities in defence of the French-speaking world. He was named a member of the Order of Canada in 2015 for "his contribution to Acadian literature as a poet and director of Éditions Perce-Neige".
