
Gemma Marr teaches in the Department of Humanities and Languages at the University of New Brunswick Saint John, and holds a SSHRC postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Historical Studies at UNB Fredericton. Her research focuses on gender and sexuality in Atlantic Canadian culture. She grew up in Hartland and, after many years away, moved back to N.B. in 2022; she spends her time reading, writing, and walking around the beautiful city of Saint John/Menaquesk.

The inaugural issue of Saint John-based It’s Burning Off was released in August 2024. This analog arts zine employs pre-digital cut-and-paste techniques and typewritten layouts to showcase a range of work by emerging New Brunswick writers and artists.
