
Halifax journalist Evelyn C. White is the author of Alice Walker: A Life (W.W. Norton, 2005). The Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project awarded her its 2021 Raymond Taavel Media Award for her coverage of issues affecting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. She has also been recognized for her reporting on an African American nun whose tragic 1994 death prompted railroad safety measures in New Brunswick. Evelyn C. White's ground-breaking work on the passion that soul singer Aretha Franklin (1942-2018) held for the novel Anne of Green Gables has garnered global attention.
