Struts Gallery is an artist-run centre dedicated to presenting exceptional contemporary art to the public through exhibitions, artist residencies, screenings, workshops, talks and performances. Established in 1980, the centre later incorporated Faucet Media to promote the development of media art by providing training, facilities and specialized equipment.

We aim to support the Artists’ process through artist-directed and artist-initiated activities. The staff consists of three practicing artists, and the board of Directors is primarily made up of artists, supplemented with arts professionals and key community members.

We are the only media arts centre in Atlantic Canada that supports all forms of media art including audio, film, video, and new media.

Struts Gallery is located on the unceded ancestral lands of the Mi’kmaq Nation and the Wolastoquyik (Maliseet) peoples. This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship” which Wolastoqiyik/Wәlastәkwiyik (Maliseet) and Mi’kmaq Peoples first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of lands and resources but in fact recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik/Wәlastәkwiyik (Maliseet) title and established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations. We acknowledge, honour, and pay respect to the traditional owners and custodians of this land.

Struts & Faucet is a member of the Association of Artist-Run Centres from the Atlantic, the Atlantic Provinces Art Gallery Association, and the Independent Media Arts Alliance.
